Dawn Meets New First Boss

Dawn Primarolo has this afternoon met with the new Managing Director of First Bus in Bristol.  Labour’s MP for Bristol South welcomed Justin Davies to his post at a meeting in Dawn’s constituency office in Bedminster.

Dawn said:

“Justin and I were able to have a really productive discussion about how best to improve bus services in Bristol.  One or two residents have been in touch recently with specific concerns about local services, so I am pleased that Justin has agreed to investigate these issues personally.”

“I am committed to working with local people, First and the City Council to improve bus travel in our city.  When Bristol’s Labour MPs and Councillors did a major survey of passengers, it was clear that people want buses which are punctual, clean and staffed by friendly and informative drivers.  Justin’s comments to me today show that he wants to achieve the same.”

“We’re certainly making progress, and the recent announcement of funding for the Greater Bristol Bus Network was a real boost.  What we have to do now is make travelling by bus in and around Bristol the smart travel choice.”

Justin Davies added:

“We all agree that bus services in Bristol need to be improved.  I welcomed the opportunity to meet with Dawn, who was able to tell me what local residents have been saying about buses in Bristol South.  The introduction of new technology to monitor where – exactly – our buses are will help with punctuality, and we’re always looking to improve customer service standards.”
