Another step forward for local health services

Callington Road Hospital opens

Just days after the start of work on a brand new health centre for Whitchurch, another new health facility for South Bristol has opened.

"For far too long, those of my constituents experiencing problems with their mental health have had to put up with out-dated facilities, while their relatives have struggled to make the trip out to Barrow to see them", Dawn says. "With the opening of the new Callington Road Hospital they will enjoy better facilities, closer to their homes, which will help them to get better more quickly".

The new, campus-style mental health unit in Brislington is light, airy and spacious, with spaces for calm and contemplation, others for conversation, and still more for individual and group activity. No longer will patients have to share toilets and bathrooms, as all bedrooms have en-suite facilities.

"I would like to congratulate Avon & Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust for the way in which they have involved service users and staff in every stage of the design and development of the scheme", Dawn says. "One again, I am delighted that, after decades of neglect under the Tories, Labour's investment in the NHS is paying dividends locally".
