Tackling antisocial behaviour in Windmill Hill

Dawn calls on council to take urgent action

Local MP Dawn Primarolo is backing residents' calls for Bristol City Council to take firm action to combat antisocial behaviour in an alley in Windmill Hill. Local people asked for Dawn's help after a spate of incidents - including arson, fly-tipping and burglary - in the lane which runs between Cotswold Road and St Johns Lane.

Dawn has contacted all those with homes backing onto the lane to ask whether the installation of alley-gates would help combat the problem. "The response has been overwhelming", Dawn said. "Dozens of local residents have been in touch to say they have had enough. I'm calling on the council to consider installing lockable alley-gates so that only those who need to use the lane have access to it".

"Alley-gates can help reduce crime and the fear of crime. It is quite clear that a small minority are causing problems for local people in St Johns Lane and Cotswold Road. That is an unacceptable situaion, and I will work tirelessly with the community to find a solution".
