Anti austerity 2017

rally_poster_featuring_Marvin.jpg Not in our name!!

Come and join the Labour Party and other interest groups and individuals to object to the dreadful Tory Government programme set to slash funds for Bristol's services on Saturday 9th September… We’ll be gathering to listen to some speakers on college Green from midday, then moving off to march around central Bristol - coming back to College Green to hear local and national speakers (and maybe with high profile music performance – so don’t miss it).

After the march – the Closing Rally, hear:

  • Miles Chambers - City Poet
  • Marvin Rees - Mayor of Bristol
  • Anjali Gohil - Bristol barrister opposing legal aid cuts
  • Joanne Kaye - Vice Chair of South West TUC
  • Kevin Courtney - Joint General Secretary, National Education Union
  • Lauren Gavanagh - Bristol-based Doctor and leading NHS campaigner
  • John Rees - People’s Assembly speaker
  • Amirah Cole - Malcolm X Community Centre
  • Owen Jones - journalist and campaigner
  • Music performance expected

If you can be there early - the Opening Rally is at 12.00 midday and you'll hear..

  • Forward Maisokwadzo - Coordinator of Bristol City of Sanctuary
  • Karen Passmore - Disabled People Against the Cuts Bristol
  • Cleo Lake - Bristol Green Party
  • Rev. Dave Jeal - local church leader and Chaplain to Bristol Rovers FC
  • Hibaq Jama - Bristol Labour Party
