Beating Bowel Cancer in Bristol

Last week Dawn Primarolo, Labour MP for Bristol South, was invited to a meeting with local healthcare professionals and representatives of the national charity, Beating Bowel Cancer, to find out about work being undertaken in Bristol to raise awareness of the symptoms of bowel cancer, and to discuss the new Survivorship Programme regarding the long term support provided to bowel cancer patients.

Speaking afterwards, Dawn said:

“It was very useful to learn more about national awareness campaigns and local provision for treating bowel cancer which is the second biggest cancer killer.  In Bristol South more people are diagnosed with bowel cancer and more people die from the disease than the national average, so it’s very important for people to be aware of the symptoms and get treatment as early as possible to stand the best chance of beating the disease.”
