Born to Read

another_dp_heashot.jpgDawn Primarolo, Labour MP for Bristol South, attended an event hosted by Save the Children who are working together with reading charity Beanstalk to deliver “Born to Read”, a programme designed to improve children’s literacy and ensure that all children have the chance to fulfil their potential.  As part of the project, volunteer reading helpers will visit schools in areas of deprivation spending time helping children learn to read.

Speaking after the event Dawn said,

“I was very impressed by this project to improve children’s literacy levels.  Being able to read is fundamental to children’s further learning and ‘Born to Read’ is providing much needed support to prevent children falling behind.  Save the Children is looking for more volunteer readers to help ensure the project is a success - please visit to find out more.”
