Working hard all year round for South Bristol
Dawn Primarolo has welcomed confirmation from the Government that they will not remove the mobility element of Disability Living Allowance for people in residential care home. The Government’s original proposals would have left many care home residents trapped in their own homes, without funding for trips into the community and further afield.
Commenting, Dawn said:
“The Government’s change of heart is very welcome. Their original plans were outrageous – and would have left some of the most vulnerable people in our society completely unable to get out and about. The Government has come under intense pressure over many months – from Labour, disability charities and even the Government’s own advisory body on benefits. It is shocking that they even considered taking this action.”
