Working hard all year round for South Bristol
Dawn Primarolo, Labour MP for Bristol South, is supporting Parliament Week, an initiative run by Parliament, which will be held from 15th to 21st November 2013.
Parliament Week offers young people at primary and secondary schools the opportunity to investigate the work and history of the Houses of Parliament, to discuss the relevance of Parliament to their lives and to encourage them to become active citizens. This year a section of the programme is devoted to Women in Democracy – celebrating women’s contribution to UK democratic life and exploring how women’s voices can be better heard.
Dawn has written to all schools in Bristol South to encourage them to take part and to promote the work of Parliament. Students can take part in this week by holding debates in the classroom, watching the sitting of the UK Youth Parliament in the House of Commons Chamber on Friday 15 November and participating in online activities.
Speaking in advance of the week, Dawn said:
“This week is a fantastic opportunity for students to develop their understanding of how Parliament and democracy works. I hope that this week is successful. I am pleased to be able to support this programme.”
