Working hard all year round for South Bristol
Dawn Primarolo, Labour MP for Bristol South, has shown her support for small independent businesses in Bristol South by backing the ‘Small Business Saturday campaign. This consumer campaign, modelled on an idea from the USA, encourages people to shop locally and celebrates the success of small and independent businesses in our local communities.
Earlier this year Labour’s Shadow Business Secretary, Chuka Umanna MP, called for the UK to hold its first ever Small Business Saturday. The campaign has since attracted support from all political parties, and the first Small Business Saturday will take place on Saturday 7 December.
“I think this is a great initiative – our local businesses play an important role in our communities and Small Business Saturday is a really good way to recognise their contribution and boost local trade. The aim of Small Business Saturday is to increase spending in small businesses, build customer loyalty, create a buzz on our shopping streets and help small businesses to network with each other.”
