On Friday 5th June, 2009, Dawn was appointed as the new Minister of State for Children, Young People and Families. Following two years as Public Health Minister, Dawn's new role takes her to the Department for Children, Schools and Families where she will serve alongside Ed Balls in helping to put children and families at the heart of the government's programme. She will also attend Cabinet in this new position, where her issues are on the agenda.
