Ashton Vale Post Office: Dawn asks questions

MP invites residents to comment on Post Office Area Plan

Dawn Primarolo has asked the Post Office to explain their decision to include Ashton Vale Post Office in their branch closure plan for Bristol South.

Speaking today, Dawn said: "While I accept that the Post Office must make difficult decisions to ensure its long-term viability, it is crucial that any decision to close a branch is based on robust evidence. Their area plan made a number of claims about Ashton Vale that I felt needed questioning, so I have written to ask them to look again, in particular, at their customer profile statistics and their assumptions about the impact of regeneration initiatives".

Dawn is keen to hear from residents who will be affected by the closure of this branch, so she can ensure the Post Office is made aware of their views.

She also wants to know what residents think about the other proposals for Bristol South - the plan to permanently close Ashton Gate branch and relocated Raleigh Road branch. "On the face of it, these changes won't significantly alter the current service to local residents - and the longer opening hours may actually lead to an improvment", Dawn said. "But what do you think? Please let me know by contacting my office on 0117 909 0063".
