Naomi Rylatt, newly elected Councillor for Hartcliffe attended the recent Labour SW Policy Conference.
Commenting on the event she said:
"On the 14th June several activists and members of Bristol South Labour Party attended a regional conference for the Labour Party to discuss the Labour Party manifesto for 2015. This type of consultation had not been done before and it was a resounding success. In the preceding weeks, branches had the opportunity to submit amendments to the draft manifesto which were then discussed in groups.
The day was opened by newly elected South West Labour MEP Clare Moody who is also one of the South West National Policy Forum Representatives and shortly after we broke into small groups based on our interests. The range of topics covered Taxation, Private and public amenities such as Rail and energy companies, Political reforms, the welfare reforms and many more.
Everyone was given the opportunity to participate and debate the statements whether they were a member, elected councillor or a PPC, now the 6 NPF Reps will attend a central conference to meet up with all the other NPF reps to discuss the submissions in more depth.
It was wonderful to have such an active role in setting the agenda and manifesto for what is going to be an important election for so many people."
