Million Meals Appeal

This weekend the Sainsbury’s store on Winterstoke Road in Ashton is taking part in the national “Million Meals Appeal” organised by the food charity, FareShare.  On Saturday 6th and  Sunday 7th October customers will be encouraged to buy an extra item of food to donate at the end of their shopping trip and Sainsbury’s will match the total level of food donated.  All food collected will be distributed by FareShare to charities and community projects who work hard to ensure that nobody has to go hungry.

Dawn Primarolo, Labour MP for Bristol South, commented,

“I am pleased to support the Million Meals Appeal national food drive this coming weekend.   Unfortunately we are seeing a rise in food poverty, with more and more people turning to foodbanks for help.  Fareshare’s work in Bristol is extremely valuable, helping to ensure that good quality surplus food does not go to waste and is instead redistributed to those who need it.”
