Oxfam 'Do' Celebrating 100th International Women's Day

Oxfam Do

Earlier today Dawn Primarolo, Labour MP for Bristol South, popped into the Oxfam Bookshop on Queens Road to support the charity’s fundraising initiative for the 100th International Women’s Day which takes place on 8 March this year.

Oxfam has been encouraging people to hold a “do” such as a tea party, cake sale or dinner dance to raise money for Oxfam projects tackling issues that are close to every woman’s heart – maternal health, being able to feed your family, education and domestic abuse.  More information about how to get involved in Oxfam’s ‘do’ campaign is available on the following website: www.oxfam.org.uk/celebration

In support of Oxfam’s work Dawn said:

“I’m absolutely delighted to help Oxfam promote this fundraising initiative to help improve the lives of women and their families living in Pakistan, Ghana, Zimbabwe, and Mali.  It’s a great idea – get together with friends, family or neighbours to celebrate 100 years of International Women’s Day and raise money at the same time.  Oxfam’s website has some great ideas and resources to help ensure your ‘do’ is a success!”
