Pregnancy Grant for Mums to Be

Dawn Primarolo is encouraging mums-to-be in Bristol South to claim a tax-free payment to help families with the cost of a new baby.  Payments of £190 will be paid from April to women who are at least 25 weeks pregnant.  The payment will not affect existing benefits or tax credits, and application forms can be collected from midwives or doctors. 

Commenting on the payment, Dawn said:

“The costs of a new baby soon mount up, so I would encourage pregnant women in Bristol South to apply for this payment.  I know that this extra money will be even more of a help in these difficult economic times.  Your application form needs to be signed by your doctor or midwife, and then payment is made direct into your bank account.  It’s that simple.  Pregnancy is an exciting time, but it can also be difficult, financially and emotionally.  More information on all aspects of pregnancy is available from http://www.nhs.uk/Planners/Pregnancycareplanner.”
