Shadow Education Secretary visits Bristol South

Tristram Hunt, Labour’s Shadow Education Secretary, visited Bristol South on Friday 22 November to meet local teachers and school pupils.

Tristram spent the day in Bristol, visiting Oasis Academy John Williams and New Oak schools in Hengrove in the morning.

He then joined Dawn Primarolo and Karin Smyth, Labour's candidate for Bristol South in 2015, on a tour of St Mary Redcliffe Primary in Victoria Park with Headteacher Emma Payne before meeting with a number of Primary School Headteachers to discuss education policy and issues affecting our schools here in Bristol South.

Dawn Primarolo, Labour MP for Bristol South, welcomed Tristram to her constituency and said:

“It is great that Tristram has taken the time to visit Bristol where we have some excellent teaching taking place and schools that are keen to make further improvements for their pupils’ learning.  Tristram listened carefully to what the Headteachers had to say about education policy and I hope he found the visit to be valuable and informative.”
