Working hard all year round for South Bristol
Dawn Primarolo, Labour MP for Bristol South, visited Rolls Royce in Filton to meet staff, managers, apprentices and union representatives, and learn more about the current projects and future plans of the successful firm. Rolls Royce employs more than 3,500 staff at its Bristol site, 120 of which live in Bristol South. Dawn toured the defence aerospace assembly factory and the operations centre and heard about the company’s contribution to the local economy and commitment to education.
Speaking after the visit Dawn said:
“It was fantastic to witness first-hand the work that takes place at Rolls Royce and to hear directly from employees about their experiences of working for the company. It was great to meet one of the Rolls Royce apprentices, Jack Beal, who lives in Bristol South. At a time of high unemployment it’s good to see a global company providing a large number of jobs for local people.”
